Hi all,
In your opinion(s) what are the best floats to use for paste fishing in depths from 12 inches (margins) upto 4 feet.
I have just brought some hillbilly pikey paste floats and they look great, are there any other top notch floats on the market or is it down to the anglers own preference?
Also when fishing banded pellets, whats the best way of attaching the band to the hook? Ive seen korum have brought out hooks with bands tied to a hair or is it just as good to attach the band straight to hook?
Any advice would be great
Thanks

Personally I fish the banded pellet within a hair rig loop. This gives it freedom to move around within the loop dependant on how the fish takes it. One thing i will say is keep the tag close to the shank if possible.
Not being a pastehead I tend to use any float and fish it slightly overdepth. I just make sure they are strong enough for the job.

i will admit that i dont know anything about these floats, but , here is my thoughts.
i have been told by several very good anglers that 'a float is just a way that you can see what is happening with your bait'
i have been told to use margin floats instead of paste floats and small floats at range. they both showed me what was happening!!!!
take your own conclusions but i now just buy floats that are built to last, not the latest 'all singing all dancing model' that can only be used with a certain bait.
i also take the opinion that a correctly placed bait will catch fish regardless of what tackle you are using.
fish don't look out the water and say 'best get caught by him as he is using xxxx float!!!'
the best day i ever had was at alders farm catching well over 150lb+ of fish using a .3g float in 2 ft of water.
i was actually told to remove the paste float i was using and use a more suitable float for the margins by a very well respected angler (who will remain anonymous)

Thanks paul and keith,
im fishing a match sunday and the lake is fishing quite well considering the bad weather of late with winning weights of 50lb plus coming out and even 100lb winning acouple of weeks ago.
Paul, im going to try sloppy paste in the margins (just read your blog) as the carp do come and sit under the platforms in spare swims if youve lucky enough to have one next to you. Also im going to try fishing out on the long pole with sweetcorn micros using either sweetcorn hookers or hard pellets (dusted in atomic corn) on the hair as pellet and corn won a match recently, with dusted red atomic maggots as backup and hopefully i will be writing in the match winners forum come sunday evening!!
